Building on its strong track record of community focused interventions, including the earlier renovation of Government Day Secondary School Akamkpa, Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers has now successfully delivered a major upgrade at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu.
Meanwhile, tThrough this latest intervention, the organisation continues to strengthen its commitment to impactful support across both the health and education sectors in Nigeria, while at the same time deepening its contribution to community wellbeing.
More importantly, the renovation actively transformed both the hospital’s exterior and interior spaces into a safer, more comfortable, and more welcoming environment for patients, healthcare professionals, and visitors.
But, to achieve this, the project introduced landscaped greenery across the outdoor surroundings and installed a covered canopy that now provides a more suitable sit out area for patients and staff alike.
In addition, the upgrade delivered a newly constructed 20 meter perimeter fence that now strengthens security across the premises.

At the same time, the installation of a functional borehole ensures reliable water access across the facility. Consequently, these coordinated improvements not only enhance operational functionality but also create a calmer and more therapeutic setting for care delivery.
Furthermore, inside the hospital complex, the central and extension wards benefited from extensive refurbishment works that raised the overall quality of the treatment environment.
Specifically, contractors polished floors, screeded walls, and applied fresh paint finishes across multiple sections of the wards.
In addition, the intervention introduced upgraded furniture, including new ward beds, side drawers, window treatments, nurses’ desks, and televisions that now support both patient comfort and staff efficiency.
At the same time, technicians replaced damaged ceiling fans, faulty doors, and worn lighting fixtures, while a comprehensive fumigation exercise ensured a hygienic and safer clinical environment.
Beyond these upgrades, the toilet block comprising six units underwent full modernisation through the installation of new plumbing systems, sanitary ware, electrical fittings, and tiling.
Altogether, these improvements collectively strengthen patient safety standards while simultaneously improving comfort and operational readiness across the hospital.
However, commenting on the renovation, Olumide Oyetan, Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, explained that access to quality healthcare and education remains central to national development.
He further noted that the renovation demonstrates the organisation’s deliberate effort to improve mental health infrastructure and provide a stronger support environment for both patients and staff at the Enugu facility.
He also pointed out that in 2024 the organisation implemented a similar intervention at the Yaba Psychiatric Hospital Lagos.
Consequently, he emphasised that both projects together clearly reflect the company’s sustained commitment to strengthening healthcare and education infrastructure nationwide while ensuring that its interventions continue to deliver lasting and meaningful value.
Importantly, this latest project once again illustrates Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers’ consistent dedication to corporate social responsibility.
Therefore, through careful planning, strategic facility selection, and thorough execution of infrastructure improvements, the organisation continues to address critical service gaps within mental health institutions.
So, as a result, the company not only supports improved healthcare delivery outcomes but also reinforces a strong benchmark for purposeful corporate interventions across Nigeria.
