Herconomy, a Nigerian financial technology platform focused on helping women gain economic independence, made history by winning three Silver Lions at the 2025 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Herconomy’s Breastmilk Money Campaign, no doubt,  has redefined its global status while showcasing  its creative ingenuity and prowess at Cannes Lions.

The organizers awarded the prizes in three top categories — Creative Data, Direct, and Health & Wellness — for Herconomy’s latest product called Breastmilk Money.

This global recognition marked a major milestone for the company and for Nigeria’s creative and financial industries.

What is Breastmilk Money?
Herconomy launched Breastmilk Money as a special savings account that rewards mothers who choose to breastfeed their babies. The company offers 14.3% interest per year on this account.

The idea builds on strong scientific research, including a study from Oxford University, which confirms that breastfeeding improves the health and development of children.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also promotes breastfeeding as the safest and healthiest option for newborns.

However, in Nigeria, only 34% of infants receive exclusive breastfeeding, which falls below the global average of 48%. Families who do not breastfeed often spend up to 34% of their income on baby formula.

Herconomy’s solution not only promotes better health for babies but also delivers economic relief for families. With Breastmilk Money, mothers now turn their care into capital.

Recognition on the Global Stage
The Cannes Lions Festival, the world’s biggest event for creativity and marketing, honoured Herconomy, where top brands and agencies come together to celebrate the best ideas.

Besides the three Silver Lions, the Breastmilk Money campaign made the shortlist in four other categories, including Titanium, Innovation, and Creative Business Transformation.

This achievement proves that Herconomy’s work not only demonstrates creativity but also carries deep meaning. It also shows that Nigerian-born ideas stand proudly on the global stage.

Although Herconomy partnered with Serviceplan, a creative agency based in Germany, to develop the campaign, the idea and product remain deeply Nigerian.

The campaign reflects the challenges Nigerian women face and provides a smart, local solution with global appeal.

Speaking about the recognition, Herconomy’s founder and CEO, Ifedayo Durosinmi-Etti, said: “These awards are more than trophies for us. They prove that we are truly changing lives through creativity and innovation.

Every campaign we create focuses on removing the barriers that hold women back financially.

We feel very grateful to our creative partner, Serviceplan, for helping us bring this idea to life. Seeing Breastmilk Money honoured at Cannes Lions tells us that purpose-driven creativity can change the world.”
