FirstBank, one of Nigeria’s oldest and most influential financial institutions, has reached a landmark ₦1 trillion in cumulative instant digital loan disbursements. This milestone highlights the bank’s continued leadership in digital banking and financial inclusion.

Since launching its digital lending services in August 2019, FirstBank has built a robust ecosystem powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. These technologies have enabled the bank to provide easy access to credit for high-risk customer segments without collateral, paperwork, or human interaction.

Through loan products like FirstAdvance, FirstCredit, and AgentCredit, over 1.5 million unique borrowers — including salaried individuals, entrepreneurs, and micro-business owners have benefited from instant digital loans.

Customers can access these loans via multiple platforms, including *894# (FirstBank’s USSD service), FirstMobile, LitApp, and the FirstMonie Agent App.

Commenting on the development, Chuma Ezirim, Group Executive, e-Business & Retail Products at FirstBank, said: “This success underscores our ongoing commitment to innovation and a customer-focused approach, which are central to FirstBank’s core values. Beyond achieving substantial figures, we remain dedicated to fostering opportunities for financial independence across Nigeria in particular, and in Africa at large.”

He added: “We value the trust our customers place in us to support their financial aspirations. Our efforts to advance digital lending will persist, especially to the excluded and underserved customer segments, while effectively managing risks in the process.”

Currently, FirstBank disburses approximately ₦1 billion daily in digital loans, demonstrating its commitment to a tech-driven and inclusive financial ecosystem. The bank continues to invest in new technologies and tailored financial solutions to support the needs of individuals and businesses across the country.

Founded in 1894, FirstBank is West Africa’s oldest financial institution and a recognised leader in digital and retail banking.
