Technology, data takes centre stage at MIPAN’s AGM

The Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN), the umbrella body for media planning and buying agencies in Nigeria, a body that has been at the forefront of advertising and marketing communications is set to hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday 10th August, 2022. The  event will be held at Marriott hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

The theme for this year’s AGM is: “The Role of Technology in Economic Development”.

According to the association, the AGM will bring together members from the Advertising Industry and Media Planning and Buying agencies consisting of the existing members of the association and intending members who will be inducted at the occasion.

Mr. Femi Adelusi, President of Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria and Managing Director, Brandeye Media, while explaining the association’s preparedness and expectations from members towards the meeting stated that: “Efforts are in place to maximize the day to the fullest, members are therefore enjoined to turn out early so as not to be left out.”

He added that the association will be giving account of its stewardship over the past two years and also elect new leaders to run the affairs of the association.

His words: “At the AGM we will like to give account of our stewardship over the past two years, as well as elect new leaders to run the affairs of the association for the next two years.”

“To ensure we have a successful election, we have a team that is led by Kabiyesi Ayo Kopoluyi, ably supported by Brenda Nwagwu, CEO, QVT Media. And to ensure we deliver a successful AGM in totality, we have a team led by Rotimi Bankole, Founder/CEO, SBI Media supported by Henry Ononiwu, Head, New Business and Partnerships, PHD Media, Yetunde Adegbite, Cluster Managing Director – Vizeum, iProspect and Posterscope; Marian Ogaziechi, Media Fuse Densu, and Akam Enoch, Media Perspective.”

Speaking about the event, the Executive Secretary of the association, Eki Adzufeh stated that the AGM will be packed with business and fun. “So all stakeholders are enjoined to save the date.”

Also commenting on the AGM, the chairman of the MIPAN 2022 AGM Sponsorship Committee, Mr. Bankole said: “In line with the vision of the new Executive Council of repositioning the association as a body to be reckoned with, this year’s AGM is scaled up to ensure maximum professionalism and full technical supports for its existing and new members.”

The chairman of the committee added: “The occasion will be utilized by MIPAN Executives to assess how the body has fared in time past and to proffer strategic options of moving forward and ensuring excellent service delivery by MIPAN members to its various stakeholders.”

“All representatives of different member agencies and those to be inducted would be reminded of the ethics of the body amongst other activities,” Mr. Bankole concluded.

Keynote speaker for the event is Elo Umeh, Managing Director, Terragon Group, and the Special Guest is Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Registrar, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigerian (ARCON).

MIPAN was established with an agenda to develop and improve the media advertising function in Nigeria by paying close attention to the discipline with a view to offer quantitative value to the industry. Encourage the entrenchment of merit based reward systems in the media advertising function in order to ensure continuous improvement as well as facilitate the advertising industry in Nigeria.
