OAAN holds maiden Annual Awards

The Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, OAAN has held the maiden edition of its Annual Awards with 12 categories. The glamorous ceremony was held on 23 November 2022 at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, and Lagos.

These categories include Telecoms products and services; Entertainment & Media; Automobile/Accessories; FMCG; E-Commerce;  Beverages & nonalcoholic Drinks; Travel & Leisure, Real Estate; Sports Industry; Most Outstanding AISOP Compliant, Most Value Driven Advertiser and Signage Agency of the Year.

Chairperson, Award Jury, Professor Abigail Ogwezzy-Ndisika, former head of the Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos, during her speech said the platform was designed to recognise professionals that are raising the bar in concepts development and creative deployment of OOH platforms in Nigeria, and to bring to the fore, the place of OOH in marketing communications, not discounting its role in national development.

She explained that the Panel of Judges evaluated 25 entries across nine categories, adding that three special categories made their debut this year, making it a total of 12 categories. This is broadly divided into 2 parts. Part one focuses on creativity and deployment and consists of 25 categories while part 2, is on professionalism and it consists of 3 special categories.

Emmanuel Ajufo, President of OAAN, in his welcome noted that OAAN has to drop its former flagship award known as the ‘ Poster awards’ to adopt the present award format to promote professionalism among members and also to move with trends in the industry.

“In addition to awards in creativity, we have introduced the following: the AISOP award, the Signage Agency award, and the most Value Driven Advertiser.”

Some of the brands and agencies who emerged winners under different categories were: Dano, ‘go for it’ by Nitro 121 won the category. The E-Commerce category was won by In-driver, Grandprix winner was Guinness FMCG, and many others.
