WPP expands offerings, acquires e-commerce software provider CCG

In a bid to further enhance its offerings, creative transformation company, WPP has acquired British tech company, Cloud Commerce Group.

Following the acquisition, Cloud Commerce— an e-commerce software provider, will merge with Wunderman Thompson’s global network offering, Wunderman Thompson Commerce, a platform that aims to support brands across the ecommerce journey including the connection of customer acquisition and multi-platform commerce with inventory, warehousing and partnerships.

In a statement, Mark Read, CEO of WPP, said: “Clients look to WPP to help them market, sell and fulfill across multiple ecommerce channels and marketplaces. With over £1 billion revenue transacting through its platform, CCG already has demonstrable scale and success in managing the complex omnichannel commerce needs of global brands. I’m excited about how CCG’s expertise will further strengthen the breadth and depth of our commerce offering to deliver growth for our clients.”

Cloud Commerce also provides software to retailers, allowing them to market and sell products through several marketplaces including Amazon, Etsy and eBay, while also managing stock control, warehouse inventory and shipping.
