Unilever’s Global Chief of Transformation, Sparshott, announces departure

Nicky Sparshott, Unilever’s Global Chief of Transformation and former CEO of Unilever ANZ, has announced her resignation from the company. Sparshott shared the news on her LinkedIn page, stating that she is leaving Unilever to build the next stage of her career.

She spent 18 years at Unilever, holding various leadership roles across the globe. During her tenure, she oversaw complex multi-category businesses and multi-cultural teams, driving growth and innovation in various markets.

In her LinkedIn post, Sparshott reflected on her accomplishments at Unilever, highlighting her role in leading the company’s transformation efforts and driving profitable growth while pioneering industry-first initiatives. She expressed pride in Unilever’s commitment to serving both people and the planet.

The post read: “After an incredible 18 years at Unilever, most recently as Global Chief of Transformation and former CEO of Unilever ANZ, I have made the decision to leave Unilever and build the next stage of my career.”

“Within Unilever, I have had a variety of senior leadership roles across the globe, leading complex multi-category businesses and multi-cultural teams. It has been enriching and rewarding – from steering pioneering growth agendas to driving large scale change initiatives, leveraging the best of brands, innovation, structure, talent, and technology. This company has been a blue thread, woven through my life.”

Sparshott is an experienced CEO, Board Director, and Change Agent with 30 years of global experience working in leading blue-chip organizations. She has worked across international markets, including Asia Pacific, the UK, and Europe, and has held various senior leadership roles leading complex multi-category businesses and multi-cultural teams.

Recounting her accomplishments, Sparshott wrote: “I am delighted we have repeatedly demonstrated you can run a competitive, high-performance business and serve both people and the planet. During my varied roles, I am incredibly proud we have stepped up profitable, competitive growth while pioneering some industry firsts: leading Unilever ANZ to be the largest certified multi-category B-Corp globally; instituting a 4-day work week whilst increasing profit, productivity, and well-being in the process; growing luxury retailer T2 tea into a global omnichannel powerhouse; exponential growth for Ice Cream in Asia Pacific; and more recently making big portfolio and organizational changes globally, to ensure Unilever’s ongoing competitiveness.”

She also expressed her gratitude to her colleagues, stating: “To all the teams I have worked with across the globe, your deep commitment to the 3.5 billion people we serve every day with our brands, alongside a human-centric approach to high-performance outcomes, will continue to be the key source of differentiation and value creation for Unilever for decades to come.”

As Sparshott departs Unilever, she is taking time to reconnect with family and friends and to finish writing a book on the value of love as a corporate currency. She is considering her next CEO role and is poised to bring her expertise and experience to a new challenge.
