Turkish Airline comes under fire for poor passengers’ treatment

The Federal Government has sued Turkish Airline before a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja over alleged criminal violation of the law of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC) and for alleged impunity.

A statement from the Council indicated that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, filed a three count charge against the airline and two of its principals officers, Liker Ayci and Rasak Shobowale, the airline’s Board Chairman and Commercial Manager respectively before the court in Abuja.

The suit is coming on the heels of the refusal of Turkish Airline to respond to lawful requirements of CPC for a full situation report on the airline’s alleged shoddy treatment of passengers of Flight 623 from Istanbul to Abuja on December 25 and 31, 2015 and January 9 2016 respectively.

The accused persons were also arraigned for allegedly neglecting, without sufficient cause, to attend and testify before CPC on the number of passengers aboard Turkish Airline Flight 623 from Istanbul to Abuja on the above named dates.

The arraignment of the airline and its principal officers followed warning by the Federal Government to them to respond within 21 days to the CPC’s request for full situation report on the airline’s alleged shoddy treatment of passengers.
