DStv and GOtv will air all matches during the forthcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, according to Multichoice, in a statement.

The pay-TV and content giant said it has reached an agreement with New World TV, a Togolese audio-visual group and AFCON broadcast rights holder for sub-Saharan Africa, to now air all 52 matches of the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire live. The event is billed to kick off from Saturday, 13 January, 2024.

It would be recalled that MultiChoice had last week said SuperSport channel on DSTV would not be able to broadcast the AFCON tournament live for not securing the rights to do so.

Having secured the rights, MultiChoice said, “SuperSport to broadcast all AFCON games live after MultiChoice secures broadcast rights January 10, 2024 – SuperSport will broadcast all 52 matches of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 (AFCON) live after MultiChoice secured the rights to broadcast the continent’s showpiece tournament, which kicks off on 13 January 2024 until 11 February 2024.”

MultiChoice added that it reached “a commercially viable agreement” with rights holders, New World TV (NWTV), to broadcast the 34th edition of Africa’s premier men’s football competition.

Other media platforms with broadcast rights to air the AFCON 2023 tournament include StarTimes and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
