The Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) has announced dates for the induction of new members into its fold.

Speaking to MARKETING EDGE in an exclusive interview, Executive Secretary of BON/ Coordinator SNB, Yemisi Bamgbose stated that the induction ceremony will be held in Lagos and Abuja on 1 December and 13 December respectively.

While reiterating the association’s mandate, he stressed that the focus of SNB is to promote professional excellence through training and mentorship.

The Society is a platform and source of inspiration for both serving and retired broadcasters. The body also serves as a think-tank on matters relating to broadcasting and other related issues. In addition, it will maintain close liaison with similar societies or associations across the globe.

Its vision is to lay down standards of knowledge, training and experience in the art, science and techniques of broadcasting appropriately to various grades of membership of the Society and to serve as an advocacy body for the broadcast industry in Nigeria.

The idea and efforts to establish the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) is dated back to 1962 by the late Ambassador Segun Olushola. By 1978, it was handed over to Yemi Farounbi, now Ambassador Yemi Farounbi. The Society was duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission on 3 March, 1994, with Headquarters at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Victoria Island, Lagos.

Based on recommendations, the Society was transferred to BON in 2013 for BON to help nurture the organization.
