Onyemelukwe appointed as Chairperson of Council’s Consumer Committee, ABCN

The American Business Council, Nigeria, has announced the appointment of Amala Onyemelukwe, as the Chairperson of the Council’s Consumer Committee.
Onyemelukwe is also the Senior Director of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability at The Coca-Cola Company. Prior to this, Amaka served as the Head of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability.
During her time as the Head of Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability at Coca-Cola in Nigeria, she played a pivotal role in fostering sustainable business development by establishing a robust and coherent public policy and sustainability framework. Additionally, she managed strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and spearheaded impactful sustainability initiatives aimed at generating mutual benefits for communities.
Before her time at Coca-Cola Nigeria Limited, Onyemelukwe held a position at Philip Morris International as the Corporate Affairs Manager. In this role, she cultivated partnerships with governmental and public entities, formulated and implemented regulatory tactics, and managed internal and external communications, among other duties.
Her professional journey commenced at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, where she occupied multiple roles before seeking new avenues for growth and diversifying her experience.
Amaka earned her B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the University of Benin in Edo State, Nigeria, and later pursued an MBA from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Additionally, she completed a program with Harvard Business Publishing.
Amaka is widely recognized as an expert in public policy and sustainability, with a track record of achieving operational efficiencies, enhancing company profitability, and navigating challenging operating environments. Her efforts extend to fostering sustainable communities, thereby contributing to the establishment of resilient and enduring businesses. She is passionate about advancing sustainable development initiatives.
The American Business Council Nigeria is a non-profit, issues-oriented business organization that provides the private sector’s perspective in the Nigeria-U.S. relationship. It is focused on policy issues and practical implementation steps in support of Nigerian public and private sector leadership as well as ongoing reform initiatives in the country. It is designed to bring ABC’s Nigerian based resources combined with the US support, to bear on selected issues and reform initiatives that show potential for WIN/WIN results in Nigeria’s quest for stable economic development.
