Nissan plans to unveil two new concepts in China

In a bid to support Nissan’s global plan, Nissan is planning to showcase “a wide range of new and future products” including two new concept cars at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show.
The new concepts will be joined by the Nissan Max-Out convertible and other electric and hybrid production models.
Nissan said that the first concept will be unveiled on April 18, during the first press day of the Shanghai Auto Show. The second new concept will follow on April 19, when the automaker will highlight its SUVs, prompting us to believe it will be some sort of a crossover.
It’s safe to assume that the new concepts will likely preview future production vehicles. Nissan recently announced it will launch 27 new electrified models by 2030, including 19 EVs. Last year, the automaker teased two EVs wearing the Nissan and the Infiniti badges, which will be produced in Mississippi, US starting in 2025; however, it is not clear if those are related to the concepts expected at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show.
The new debuts will be joined by the pictured Max-Out electric two-seater convertible concept which was originally unveiled in digital form back in 2021, before stepping into reality in 2023. This one is too futuristic to make it to production, and will most likely remain a design study for the evolution of Nissan’s styling language. Besides the trio of concepts, Nissan will bring to Shanghai its product offerings with electric and hybrid (e-Power) powertrains.
Unfortunately, we don’t have any teasers or sketches of the upcoming concepts to give us an idea of what to expect. What we do know is that one of them will be an EV designed for the Chinese market and that it will “offer an exciting and confident driving experience that’s tailored to a broad range of lifestyles and needs while supporting Nissan’s global plans”.
