Faces and personalities who served as Cannes Lion jury presidents in the last 10 years

Many notable personalities have in the last 10 years served as juries for the iconic Cannes Lions awards.
Cannes Lions, an international festival of creativity, was created to champion creative excellence, provide a global destination and definitive benchmark for the creativity that drives progress.

The largest gathering of advertising and creative communication industry was established in 1954, and has carefully selected the juries to chair the award from experts drawn from each file around the world and headed by a jury president.

Jury members hail from across the world and represent the global industry’s leading talent from the broadest spectrum of disciplines.
Here are a few of such personalities which include

Radio category 2015

In 2015, Paul Reardon was made the jury president of Radio category. As a writer and Executive Creative Director, Paul’s work has been recognised in every major international award show, including Australia’s first and only One Show Green Pencil and two Cannes Lions Grands Prix.

In 2014, he was the Executive Creative Director behind the ANZ GAYTMs campaign that cleaned up across global award shows and won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix in Outdoor.

2016 Entertainment Lions for Music Category

Josh Rabinowitz was made president of Cannes Lions festival music category in 2016. He is an acknowledged global thought leader in that space where music, media, and creative content intersect. During his 30 plus year career he has produced and/or music supervised over 10,000 tracks for brands, cinema, social media, major recording labels and TV.

2017 Design Category

Sandra Planeta is Creative Director and Founder of the Stockholm based design firm, Planeta Design. She works with branding and design assignments both locally and internationally. Her clients include Hästens, Peak Performance, Svenskt Tenn, Dirty Linen, Yoga Girl and SIMPLo among others.

Aside being the president at Cannes in 2017 for Design category, Sandra was also president for the Design Jury at Eurobest 2015. She has been lecturing on design in various design schools, as well as won numerous awards for her work.

2018 Brand Experience & Activation Lions

Rob Reilly was the global Jury President in 2018 for brand experience and activation. He has won numerous awards for himself as well as chairing several industry award show juries, including Cannes Lions three times. He is a member of The One Club for Creativity Board and the Facebook Global Client Council.

Before that, Rob spent a decade at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, which culminated in the agency being named Ad Age’s Agency of the Decade.

2019 Sustainable Development Goals Lions Jury category

David Droga was named the Jury President of Sustainable Development Goals Lions category in 20219. He is the Founder and Creative Chairman, Droga5 Global, the chief executive officer of Accenture Song and a member of Accenture’s Global Executive Management Committee.

David was the first-ever Worldwide Chief Creative Officer of the Publicis Network. He was also Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi London, Regional Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Asia and a partner and Executive Creative Director of OMON Sydney. He is also a laureate of the Asian Media and Marketing Hall of Fame, the AdNews Hall of Fame, the AWARD Hall of Fame and the American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement.

2020 Media Lion category

Philippa Brown was named Jury President in 2020. Brown is the World CEO at PHD global, who oversees the running of the global network, consisting of close to 6,000 staff across 100 offices.

Brown took the helm in July 2019. Since then, she has been instrumental in transforming the network’s approach to helping brands create and harness ideas that go beyond expectations, as well as ideas that enable them to make the leap above their competitors and enjoy disproportionate growth.

2021 Titanium Lions category

Susan Credle is the Global Chief Creative Officer, FCB. She was made the 2021 Titanium Lions jury president. She is one of the industry’s leading creatives and an important voice representing women. Her creative brilliance was responsible for the iconic M&M’S “human” and Allstate’s “Mayhem” campaigns. She has received numerous industry accolades, including Ad Age’s “100 Most Influential Women,” Business Insider’s “Most Creative Women in Advertising” and induction into the AAF’s Hall of Achievement. In 2017, Credle was named a Matrix honoree by New York Women in Communications.

2022 Creative B2B Lions category

Paul Hirsch is the Chief Creative Officer, Doremus. He was the jury president of Cannes Lions creative B2B in 2022.

Hirsch is a creative leader focused on designing and shaping the next generation of brands. He spent his formative years at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Leo Burnett, and an agency he co-founded, Division of Labor. At GS&P, he crafted memorable work for Nike and Cracker Jack. At Burnett, he relaunched Chef Boyardee with a film that still circles the internet, and he also co-authored the Amazon charting book “Stop Tweeting Boring Sh*t.”

2023 Outdoor Lions category

Javier Campopiano, Worldwide Chief Creative Officer at Grey and Global Chief Creative Officer WPP open X, joined the world jury president in 2023 for the outdoor category.

Javier’s work is well recognized and awarded by the most important advertising festivals in the world. He is the proud recipient of more than 60 Cannes Lions, including Grand Prix in Outdoor and Film and two Titanium Lions. He has also won several gold, silver and bronze awards at Clio, LIA, ANA, The One Show, D&AD -including a Black Pencil-, El Círculo de Creativos Argentinos, FIAP, El Sol and El Ojo de Iberoamérica.

Javier has been a judge at Cannes Lions, Clio, The New York Festivals, El Sol, Wave, FIAP, El Ojo de Iberoamérica, Antigua Festival, and has served as President of the OHH Jury at El Círculo de Creativos Argentinos, and President of the Film Jury at El Ojo de Iberoamérica. He has also served as President of the Writing for Advertising Jury at the most prestigious show D&AD.

2024 Creative B2B

Andisa Ntsubane, Managing Executive, Brand, Marketing and Communications, Africa Vodacom Group Limited, joined thousands of Juries at Cannes Lions festival in 20024 in Creative B2B category. He is one of Africa’s largest Technology Communications organizations, and part of the Vodafone Group.

In 2021, Ntsubane was named Africa Marketing Leader of the Year at the MARKETING EDGE Brands and Advertising Awards of Excellence – Nigeria’s most celebrated annual industry awards, which was held in Lagos.

Andisa sits on various Industry Advisory Councils and Boards including the Forrester Global Marketing Leadership Council, Global Customer Experience Council, Monash University Executive Education Advisory Council, Brand Council of South Africa, Marketing Association of South Africa/’s Professional Designation Board and more recently, the Board of the Africa Advisory Council of the Global CMO Council.
