Dentsu appoints new EMEA Media leader

Poised to strengthen client-focused leadership in 2023 and continue to help clients transform their business and respond to the changing needs of consumers, Dentsu Inc, a Japanese international advertising and public relations joint stock company, has made some key changes to its EMEA leadership team.

Dentsu appointed Paolo Stucchi as the CEO of Media, EMEA, Dentsu, and Thomas Le Thierry will transition from his current role as of  CEO Media EMEA to a new critical client leadership role as Client Advisor, EMEA.

According to the company post on its LinkedIn page, the strategic appointments ensure continuity as they come together to double down on the client-centric approach within Dentsu and across the whole of EMEA with a clear vision, significant experience and primed to deliver success.

Stucchi, will reports jointly to Dentsu EMEA CEO Giulio Malegori and Dentsu CEO Media for international markets Peter Huijboom, in his new role, succeeds Thomas Le Thierry, who moves to EMEA client advisor to support the region with client and new business growth agenda.

Stucchi, a 12-year veteran of Dentsu’s media operations, most recently was CEO of Southern Europe, MENA, and Turkey.

Thomas, has spent the past +30 years with the Dentsu group (ex aegis) sharing his years of service between local agency leadership roles (CEO of Vizeum and Carat in France), international assignments, and global business.

In 2012, Thomas was appointed Global President of the Vizeum network joining the brand board. His responsibility included defining the vision and ambition for the network, driving client leadership, consolidating global network revenue and global P&L, and building the network’s reputation the vision and ambition for the network, driving client leadership, consolidating global network revenue and global P&L as well as building the reputation for the Network. He is one of the founding directors of Vizeum as he launched the agency in France in 2003. In 2015 and 2017 under his leadership Vizeum was recognized as RECMA fastest growing agency network globally. Vizeum tripled its revenue and was awarded regional or global assignments for Sonos, RB, Abi, Burger King, Burberry, Shiseido, Ikea, VFC, Huawei, Honda, Seb, ELC EMEA, and Singtel consolidating +$3.5 Bil of net new business.

In April 2020 Thomas was appointed Dentsu Media CEO EMEA overlooking the media and performance networks for the region. Over three years the region piled up over $1bn worth of new business with the addition of ING BMW Arla Zalando Banco Santander groupe Seb to the region’s client list. In fall 2023 Recma ranked Dentsu media EMEA as the #1 network in New business for the year.

Commenting on the appointment, Thomas Le Thierry said: “It’s been an honor to lead the media business in EMEA for three years at Dentsu. While cruising through COVID and the war in Ukraine we’ve delivered significant growth with existing and new clients including ING, BS, BMW, Zalando, Estee Lauder, Groupe Seb, etc. We’ve created momentum and built wonderful team spirit. Paolo has an incredible track record. I know you’ll take the business one step further. You can count on my continuous support.”
