BSG appoints Rocha as new chairman

The trade association of beer manufacturers in Nigeria, under the aegis of Beer Sectoral Group (BSG) has appointed Hugo Rocha as chairman of the Group. This took effect from 1 November, 2022.

Rocha is a seasoned professional with over 27 years of experience across diverse sectors and will be replacing former BSG Chairman, Baker Magunda, who retired from his position as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guinness Nigeria Plc on 31 October, 2022.

As the newly appointed Chairman, he will be spearheading the association’s performance across all dimensions and also ensures the interest of its members is protected.

Rocha is the managing director and chief executive officer of International Breweries Plc (a part of the AB InBev Group), and President of AB InBev West Africa.

The BSG new Chairman has worked with AB InBev Group for 27 years, in diverse positions comprising different leadership roles which cut across general management, sales, process integration and human resources functions in various countries, including Brazil, Dominican Republic, China, Colombia, Argentina and South Africa.

Rocha bagged his first degree in mechanical engineering from the Federal University of Paraiba, Brazil, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Sao Paulo Business School, Brazil, and he is Lean Sigma Six Black Belt certified.
