By Kingsley Odii

Mr. John Ajayi, the Publisher and CEO of MARKETING EDGE, Nigeria’s foremost and brand-centric magazine, has urged newsmen in the country, especially practicing brand and marketing communications journalists to be daring and dynamic in discharging their constitutional duties, given the vast opportunities within the media industry and in Nigeria at large. He made this known during a press conference recently held at the MARKETING EDGE corporate office in Ikeja, Lagos.

Addressing newsmen at the event, which marked the unveiling of the publication’s 20th Anniversary logo, with respect to the forthcoming 2023 NATIONAL MARKETING SUMMIT and MARKETING EDGE BRANDS & ADVERTISING EXCELLENCE AWARDS, Mr. Ajayi stated that the future belongs to those who are dogged and passionate about their dreams.

“Young reporters in the media, specifically in the marketing communications industry, must learn to be versatile and spread their tentacles across all the sectors. This is how they can ensure steady growth, capacity development and remain relevant within the ecosystem,” he said.

Sharing the remarkable journey and achievements of the esteemed organization, Mr. Ajayi said despite the intrigues and challenges of the media landscape, MARKETING EDGE stands strong and continues to thrive. He acknowledged that though the past twenty years have not been all smooth sailing, they have not been all tumultuous either. To this end, he expressed profound gratitude to God.

The MARKETING EDGE Group boss further reflected on the milestone the business as a going concern has achieved over the years, including its strategic brand extension with the NATIONAL MARKETING SUMMIT and MARKETING EDGE BRANDS & ADVERTISING EXCELLENCE AWARDS after its 10th anniversary, followed by the launch of MARKETING EDGE on TV approximately two and a half years later. He also mentioned the MARKETING EDGE headline news that run real time on LED billboards and indoors at shopping malls pan Nigeria.

“These initiatives were not driven by monetary gains because they are extremely energy sapping, but rather by the organization’s determination to promote the brand idea and push the boundaries of advertising. We are resolved to continue to remain on top of our game without resting on our oars,” he remarked.

To mark its 20th anniversary, MARKETING EDGE has lined a week-long activities, including medical outreach, the virtual NATIONAL MARKETING SUMMIT and the EDGE Awards Ceremony.

With its unparalleled achievements and audacious vision, MARKETING EDGE has been at the forefront of the Integrated Marketing Communications industry in Nigeria. According to the organisers of the epochal event, this year’s ceremony promises to redefine the industry and solidify MARKETING EDGE’s legacy as a trailblazer in brand journalism and agenda setter in Nigeria’s marketing communications ecosystem.
