WIMBIZ set to make lasting impact with 22nd Annual Conference

In a grand celebration of female leadership and making a lasting impact on every woman, the Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ), is set to hold its annual conference on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2023. The event will take place at the famous Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to Molade Adeniyi, Chair, Conference Planning Group, this year’s conference with the theme, “MISSION I’MPOSSIBLE: THRIVE!” aims to “inspire, empower and equip participants with the tools necessary to thrive in uncertain times.”

Speaking on the theme, she said, “At WIMBIZ, we gather to discuss things that are pertinent to women. The challenges that we are facing, what’s happening to us globally, to those of us in business, career, and those that are just about to start up.

“Among all these, we want to challenge women to say that ‘You are possible’. That there are other females who are pushing past all those challenges. Therefore, they should see possibilities in challenges.

“Some of the conversations in this year’s panelists sessions will include, ‘Navigating through rugged male-dominated industries’ where women who have found their place in industries like the Oil and Gas, Aviation, and Mining have pushed through and are thriving there will share their experiences.”

Hansatu Adegbite, Executive Director, WIMBIZ, stated, “This year’s theme is timely and relevant as it comes against the backdrop of economic and social challenges women in Nigeria and its impact on their various careers and businesses.”

She explained that many of the remarkable achievements of women can be attributed to their participation in the WIMBIZ Annual Conference. She further clarified that the conference’s primary purpose is to motivate women to unlock their full potential and excel in their respective areas of expertise.

Mrs. adegbite mentioned that at the conference, WIMBIZ will honour achievers in the Aviation industry such as the first female pilot, air hostess and air traffic controller.

Dr Joy Isa, Vice Chair, Conference Planning Group, emphasized that the 22nd annual conference is set to change people’s mindset and let the public know that WIMBIZ is for everybody regardless of where they are in life or what they do. She stated that the plenary sessions are modeled to be very open so all participants can contribute and ask every questions.

Speaking on the Virtual aspect of the conference, Enimien Inegbedion, Chair, Conference Planning Group Tech Sub Committee, said that there is an App put in place for virtual attendees to follow the conference, connect, and form a bond. Virtual attendees will also be able to win prizes, ask questions, and even schedule meet-ups with other users of the App. Exhibition booths will be set up both at the venue and virtually on the app for users to shop online.

Tolulope Olorundero, Chair, Conference Planning Group Comms and Publicity Committee, clarified that this year’s conference comes with lots of discounts.

“Partners and sponsors have come on board to offer massive discounts on their products and the services that they provide. She emphasized that “the WIMBIZ annual conference is not for women only as the men also need to be in the room to listen to the issues concerning women so they can be more empathetic towards them when they speak out,” she stated.

The WIMBIZ Annual Conference is known for attracting high-profile and exceptional speakers, and this year will be no different. The conference will feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including the Conference Chairperson, Veteran journalist, Bimbo Oloyede, CEO, and many others.

WIMBIZ is a non-profit organization that has, over the last 22 years, implemented programmes that inspire, empower, and advocate for a greater representation of women in leadership positions in the public and private sectors. It has a contributory associate pool of 2,130 accomplished women in management, business and public service.

WIMBIZ collaborates with credible domestic and international organizations to deliver programs, which have positively influenced over 313,071 women to excel in their businesses and careers.
