Virgin Atlantic celebrates 18 years of service in Nigeria

Virgin Atlantic has ferried at least three millions passengers between Nigeria and United Kingdom since it commenced flight operations into the West African country on July 6, 2001.

The airline also said that within the same period, it had carried over 5.5 million kilograms of cargo between the two countries and beyond.

A statement by Funmilayo Fagbemi, Marketing Executive, Virgin Atlantic, Nigeria, said that the Lagos-London service offers a consistent long haul experience for those customers connecting from Lagos seamlessly via London Heathrow to destinations throughout North America across the Virgin Atlantic network, including New York and Boston, the leading commercial and educational cities of the US East Coast.

To commemorate the special day, the airline introduced a special birthday offer with fares starting from N304, 000 in economy class.

The statement quoted Justin Bell, Commercial Manager at Virgin Atlantic, Nigeria as saying that, “July 2019 marks 18 years of flying between Lagos and London for Virgin Atlantic.

“Our customers continue to enjoy amazing service from the best crew in the business, great food, in-flight entertainment, Wi-Fi and much more! All of these on the most timely and reliable direct service between Nigeria and the UK.”

He emphasised that it had been an honour for Virgin Atlantic to connect Nigerians with London and the rest of the world.

For passengers travelling in all cabins, three meal choices are available – some of which cater for the Nigerian palate.

As part of the in-flight entertainment, in addition to box office UK film titles, Virgin Atlantic offers a number of Nollywood films across a range of genres.

The statement promised that the airline would continue to take the lead by offering innovative service and experience that was unrivalled and a delight to customers.

Recall that Virgin Atlantic Airways had on July 6, 2001 commenced the Nigerian route with a Boeing 747-200, but today, it deploys the state-of-the-art Airbus 330-300 with Wi-Fi in all cabins to the route.
