SPV elevates Akinpelu to Deputy Director, Strategy & Planning

SPV Communication Solutions, MTN Nigeria’s Marketing Communications Agency, has promoted Sherif Lanre Akinpelu (arpa & aNIPR) to the role of Deputy Director, Strategy & Planning.

Speaking with MARKETING EDGE Magazine on his new appointment, Sherif, who was formerly the agency’s Strategy Lead, explained what his role entails.

“I will continue to support the Group Strategy Director in leading Brand & Integrated Marketing Communications Strategy for MTN, using a combination of creative problem solving, behavioural science, and data analysis skills that will not only solve business problems but also tap into opportunities while winning local, regional and global awards.

“I will continue to provide strategic support for all MTN Strategic Business Units, partner agencies, strategy leads, junior strategists and planners working on the MTN account under SPV,” he said.

In the area of external representation, he said he will also continue to be one of the strategists that represent SPV at the Group level (TBWA Africa & Omnicom level).

Sherif further added that SPV will continue to attract more world-class brands that would love to partner with the agency because of the level of support it has been providing for MTN in Nigeria since their partnership in 2017.

Sherif has over 7 years of experience in Strategy and Planning. Prior to joining SPV, he worked at CreativeXone as an Assistant Brand Planner and moved to the post of Brand Planning Manager. He was also a Graduate Trainee/Strategy Executive at Proximity Communications Nigeria. However, he started his career in Strategy at Cosse TTL as a Strategy Intern.

So far in his career, Sherif has worked on brands like Spectranet, Keystone Bank, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Dangote Salt, DanQ, Dangote Cement, Dangote seasoning etc.

He is an alumnus of the University of Lagos and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree and an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication respectively, with special focus on Public Relations & Advertising. He also attended 02 Academy Lagos (2015) and Tink Africa’s Bschool Ministry of Strategy (2017).
