Spectranet assures Ibadan internet consumers of improved services
Consumers in Ibadan,Oyo State capital, will soon experience major improvement in their internet services, as Spectranet has launched 4G LTE in the city in a bid to offer subscribers faster and affordable services that will redefine the lifestyle and enhance their businesses.
LTE which stands for Long Term Evolution and is a registered trademark owned by ETSI, is a standard for high-speed wireless communication for mobile phones and data terminals. It is based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA network technologies, increasing the capacity and speed using a different radio interface together with core network improvement.
The Chief Executive Officer, Spectranet Ltd, David Venn, said that with the introduction of the 4G LTE in Ibadan, “a standard that defines wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals, Spectranet has provided Ibadan business owners and residents faster, reliable and affordable Internet service that could lift them above current challenges caused by infrastructure deficits.”
Speaking at the launch of the new facility, Venn said, “Today marks another milestone in our service delivery, as we reinstate our commitment to Ibadan customers through our reliable and affordable Internet service for a seamless browsing experience.

In terms of affordability, Venn said Spectranet had designed plans and offerings that suit individual pockets irrespective of their income and status – whether they are students, professionals, family, or business enterprise owners.
The launch in Ibadan, is a major step forward for the internet service provider, as it continues in it aggressive expansion campaign across Nigeria. The company deploys over 50 base stations every month across the country to ensure standard reception of services by numerous subscribers.
As at March the service provider had over 300 base stations in Lagos, over 150 base stations in Abuja among others and was awaiting more than 150 units already imported but yet to land the shores of the country.
The company said the deployment was following realisation that with the rate subscribers were demanding for its services, the 20MGz capacity the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC allotted it from the 2.3GHz spectrum may not be enough for to provide robust services that will give subscribers value for money
