The number one original prayer drink, Seaman’s Schnapps will be launching “Ayo Olopon” as a software application to pop up the 2015 Osun Osogbo Festival.

The Category Manager for the drink, Mr Amuwo Olayinka, said this on Tuesday at a news conference on the Osun Osogbo festival that comes up between August 15 and 22.

According to him, Ayo Olopon’s App is going to be the kind of game that the youths will enjoy on their blackberry phones and windows devices. “Ayo Olopon is going to be a game the people can download that will teach our youths how to play and give them more information about Osun Osogbo so that our people can carry their culture forward. This is an extra that Seaman is bringing to Osun Osogbo this 2015,” Amuwo stated.

He stated that Seaman had developed the application to arrest the minds of youths who now spend much of their time online, adding that with the new application the youths would be taught about culture and Osun festival in particular.

“At the festival, we are going to organise games village for players of “Ayo Olopon” to challenge themselves and also play on their phones and tablets. Every other person that will be at the festival will have the opportunity to download free the application from Google and game stores. There will also be prize awards for winners,” he said.

Amuwo stated that Seaman would be enhancing culture, having being a major sponsor of Osun Osogbo festival for 30 years. “Don’t forget that Seaman’s Schnapps is the official drink for Osun Festival. This time around we discover that a lot of young people in Nigeria are not at home with our culture. They are no more connected with culture, they are mobile and high tech people and so we are using that platform to engage them,” he said.

Earlier, the representative of the organiser of the event, the Chief Executive of a Business Communication, Infogem Limited, Mr. Ayo Olumokun said that the news conference took place at the Institute of Directors so as to get the IOD’s endorsement to enlist the Osun festival on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

According to him, IOD is the best place now to lure the corporate world to buy into the idea of enlisting Osun Osogbo Festival on Nigerian Stock Exchange.

“Getting Osun Osogbo on the Nigerian Stock Exchange is a dream that we have been working on for the past two years and I can tell you that we are perfecting that by partnering with Institute of Directors to get its endorsement,” he said.

“Why we have come here is to get the endorsement of IOD and for corporate governance that have been going on in Osun State and with the synergy that we now have with IOD, we will soon enlist Osun Osogbo Festival on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. We have started the relationship this year and as a matter of fact I’m a member of the IOD and I have the confidence that we will put Osun Osogbo Festivals on the Nigerian Stock Exchange,” he said.

Commenting, the President and Chairman of the Council, IOD, Mr. Yemi Akeju said that he had been participating in Osun Osogbo Festivals since his tender age as a child in Osogbo.

He said, “I was born and bred in Osogbo. I had my primary and secondary education in Osogbo and as a graduate of Arts from university I have had cause to interact with the Theatre Icons, Duro Ladipo, Chief Oyin Adejobi who epitomised culture in the ancient town.”
