Nigerian Breweries sweeps top prizes at ADVAN award

… Molfli, Dufil, others shine with multiple awards

Nigerian Breweries’ Heineken clinched the coveted ‘Brand of the year’ award at 2017 Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Awards for Marketing Excellence (West Africa). Its Brand Manager, Obabiyi Fagade, also emerged the ‘Brand Manager of the year’ for successfully managing the brand’s campaigns and positioning efforts in the last one year.

The Chairman of the panel of Judges and MD/CEO Noah’s Ark Communications, Mr. Lanre Adisa, said the winners emerged based on their industry leadership and marketing excellence during the year under review; adding that the emergence of the year’s winners should propel more brands to think out of the box, innovate and up their games in the marketing landscape.

Heineken beats Dufil Prima’s Indomie and Hayat Kimya’s Molfix to second and third positions, respectively.

Similarly, Heineken also emerged winner in the ‘Campaign of the Year’ category, beating Airtel Smart Speedo and Unilever Ghana’s Pepsodent to second and third places, respectively.

Responding to the victory, Emmanuel Agu, Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout Brands, Nigerian Breweries Plc, said, “We locked down the key awards tonight; Social Media and Digital, Campaign of the Year, Brand of the Year and Brand Manager of the Year”.

Meanwhile, Molfix’s and Dufil’s Power Oil and Indomie, respectively, emerged big winners in other categories. Molfix emerged the winner of ‘Experiential marketing category’ topping Coca-Cola and Three Crowns milk which took second and third places, respectively. It also clinched the second position in the ‘innovation category’ while Malta Guinness Herb won the third place and MTN Lumus Mobile Electric took the first position.

Dufil’s Indomie won the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)’ Category, followed by second place winner MTN Foundation and third place winner Dufil’s Power Oil.

On Consumer Promotion Category, Dufil’s Indomie won the second position while Molfix took the third position and Three Crowns led the category.

For ‘New Brand/Brand Extension’ Category, Unilever‘s Sunlight won the first place, Guinness Herb emerged second and Airtel Unlimited Plan emerged third.

The awards coincided with the 25th anniversary of ADVAN. The President of the association, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney in her welcome address noted that ADVAN has been true to its purpose of creating value for the nation’s Marketing Communications community for these 25 years.
