Nestle Nigeria Plc sets to equip female applicants with technical skills

In a bid to encourage gender balance in the workplace, Nestle Nigeria Plc will be organizing a technical training programme to equip female participants at its Technical Training Center in Agbara, Ogun State.

The Factory Human Resources Manager, Mr. Shakiru Lawal, encouraged participants who are interested in the programme to apply as application closes on April 30, 2019.

Lawal pointed out that the training programme will last for 18 months, adding that participants will be engaged in rigorous theoretical and practical training and will also get exposure to industrial work experience in the various plants within its factory location.

According to him, the training programme will focus on three core disciplines such as: Mechanical Operations, Electrical and Instrumentation operations and Automation and Control Systems activities.

He pointed out that after the successful completion of the programme, participants will be awarded a Nestle Certificate of Participation.

“In addition, we will prepare trainees for City and Guilds of London Technician Awards in Engineering” he added.

To be qualified for the programme, Lawal said that candidates must have obtained the following qualifications before 2019.

“A. Minimum of Lower Credit in Ordinary National Diploma (OND) issued by a Nigerian Polytechnic in any of the following (or related) field of study such as: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering / Electrical / Installation & Maintenance Engineering, Applied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics), Applied Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Industrial Measurement and Control/Instruments Mechanics Work and Automation Engineering”

He also stated that candidates are expected to have five (5) O-Level credits or its equivalent obtained in one (1) sitting in the following subjects: Physics, Mathematics, English Language, Further Mathematics, and Technical Drawing or Chemistry.

Lawal further emphasized that participants who are willing to take part in the training programme will learn in a very conducive environment as the company’s Technical Training Center in Agbara is equipped with the following facilities: Modern classrooms, standard library, computer room, electrical, instrumentation, automation and mechanical workshops to facilitate their leaning process.

Nestle Nigeria Plc is a publicly listed food and beverage specialty company headquartered in Lagos.

It is majority owned by Nestle S.A. of Switzerland. The company was founded in 1961 and conducted trading under the name of Nestle Products Nigeria Limited.

It has its main factory in Agbara Industrial Estate, Ogun State. The firm manufactures breakfast cereal, baby food products, food seasoning and hydrolyzed plant protein mix.
