MTN Foundation partners NCDC to empower communities

The MTN Foundation, in partnership with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has announced the commencement of the phase four of its community support project with the theme: “What Can We Do Together”. The edition is aimed at helping communities navigate the devastating challenges occasioned by the novel coronavirus pandemic.

According to a statement, the foundation is giving Nigerians opportunity to nominate communities that are qualified to benefit from any of the development projects to support their efforts at containment of covid-19 pandemic in different locations across the country. Nigerians are therefore encouraged to elect a community, which they believe should benefit from one of a number of development projects.

Commenting on the initiative code-named WCWDT 4.0, the Acting Executive Secretary, MTN Foundation, Odunayo Sanya, said: “The strength of What Can We Do Together comes from us working together toward the common good. The need to keep doing this has been heightened by the advent of COVID-19. We call on Nigerians to nominate communities that are in dire need of these projects.”

The foundation further stated: “This year, nominations are sought for solar-powered boreholes and ICT laboratories as well as specific interventions against the unprecedented challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. The foundation will execute specific interventions for COVID-19 in partnership with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).”

About 510 communities across 454 local government areas have so far benefited from the foundation’s social interventions in previous editions. The entry for nomination which has already started will close July 31, 2020.
