In line with the celebration of the International Women’s Day (IWD), MARKETING EDGE publications in conjunction with its sister company, MEDIA EDGE, have commemorated the day with celebration of female staff of the organisation. The group celebrated with its female staff as part of its contributions to women, while appreciating their efforts in the organisation and the world at large.

The theme for this year’s IWD, #choose to challenge, is centred on the challenges of women, while calling out the gender bias and inequality women are facing around the world. In view of this, MARKETING and MEDIA EDGE chose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements by extending love to their staff to help create an inclusive world.

Before the global campaign for this year’s International Women’s Day, the group has always championed gender equality. In view of this year’s global event, MARKETING EDGE conducted an interview with some of the women within its work space on how the firm has helped them achieve their potential as women and also its contribution to gender equality.

In response to this, the General Manager, Strategy & Business Development, MARKETING EDGE, Mrs. Mojisola Daniel-Matesun, said the firm has really given her the opportunity to explore and harness her potentials as a woman.

Her words: “This organisation has really given me the privilege to explore in my career in the areas of media and integrated marketing communications. I can now do more than I used do.

“I have been able to work independently with less supervision, which has helped bring out the best in me.”

Speaking about the contribution of Mr. John Ajayi, the magazine publisher and Group MD as a leader and a man that promotes gender equality, Mrs. Daniel-Matesun said: “Mr. Ajayi is a good leader in the sense that he helps to shape you as a woman by bringing out the very best in you.”

Also speaking, the Deputy General Manager, MARKETING EDGE, Ms. Ogechi Odigbo, said: “MARKETING EDGE has made me realise my potential and leadership qualities as a woman; there has not been any case of limitations to what I can do as a woman since I started working here. Equal opportunity has been given to me by Mr. Ajayi. He doesn’t assign roles based on gender – he gives everyone the opportunity to spread their wings and achieve great things.”

She added: “He is a great leader who promotes gender equality, carries everybody along and gives the right training to everyone not minding their gender.”

On her part, Ms. Oyindamola Are, the Project Manager of MEDIA EDGE, attributed her performance to Mr. Ajayi’s relentless effort to always bring out the best in all his staff.

Her words: “Talking about the potentials achieved so far while working with MARKETING EDGGE/MEDIA EDGE, I have really improved in my abilities and performance in terms of my job. If I am to rate myself before joining the organisation, I will say I was 5/10; but now I can say I am doing better than ever because I can rate myself 8/10. Thanks to Mr. Ajayi’s inspiration and support to me as one of his employees.”

Speaking on the IWD, Mr. Ajayi said that celebrating women’s day with the staff is part of the firm’s commitment to promoting gender equality. He noted that it has become inevitable for him to celebrate the women in his organisation as they contribute largely to its growth. He mentioned that 70% of the staff at MARKETING EDGE/MEDIA EDGE is dominated by intelligent and elegant women.
