Folake Ani-Mumuney, Wasiu Abiola, others lead ADVAN’s new exco

The Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, First Bank of Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Folake Ani-Mumuney is the new President of Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN). She becomes the first female leader of the association after an election that pitched her against another celebrated female marketing personality, Mrs. Bukola Bandele, Marketing Director, PZ Nigeria.

Ani-Mumuney and her team made up of eminent marketing executives from reputable and highly successful organisations will run the affairs of the association for the next two years with a view to re-positioning ADVAN and making it more vibrant and sensitive to the expectations and yearnings of the marketing profession and relevant stakeholders.

During her tenure, Ani-Mumuney will work with Wasiu Abiola, Head, Media & Digital Unit of Nigerian Breweries Plc, who was also elected the 1st Vice President of the association, as well as Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, Executive Head, Corporate Communications, Stanbic IBTC, who emerged the 2nd Vice President.

The new Treasurer is Unilever’s Nnnena Osi while Onome Asagbra, Product Manager, Indomie now holds the Publicity portfolio of ADVAN’s new exco.

Ani-Mumuney is a seasoned marketer and communicator, who heads the marketing and corporate communications functions globally for FBN Holdings Plc, the parent company of First Bank of Nigeria Limited.

In her marketing career, which spans 22 years, Ani-Mumuney has gained valuable experiences across key sectors like Banking, Aviation, FMCG, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas Industry.

During this period she has held varied roles, leading strategy and business planning, process re-engineering, new business development and marketing; and served as Manager Brands, Policies and Communications Europe and Africa, British Airways Plc, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Dangote Group and Group Head, Marketing and Corporate Communications, FirstBank, all foremost leading global brands.

An alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Folake Ani-Mumuney holds a first degree in Philosophy, obtained in Nigeria, a second degree in Law from the United Kingdom and a Diploma in Business Computing Systems Analysis and Design also from the U.K.

Speaking to MARKETING EDGE after her election, Ani-Mumuney said she felt honoured by the confidence that has been reposed in her by her colleagues and pledged to build upon the foundation laid by the immediate past executive led by David Okeme.

She promised to operate an open door policy and resolve some of the challenges confronting the industry through regular dialogue with stakeholders and execution of strategic programmes, which her exco will unveil soon. This, she believes, will make the association achieve meaningful results for the benefit of all members and the country at large.
