Ehimuan, Google’s West Africa pioneer director steps down

Nigerian business leader, technology executive, Juliet Ehimuan, has stepped down from her role as Google’s West Africa Director.
The social entrepreneur disclosed this on LinkedIn, confirming that the transition from the global media tech giant will usher her into a broader role within the regional technology landscape. Before her appointment as Google’s West Africa Director, she served as the company’s Country Director for Nigeria where she recorded remarkable growth, excellence, and digital transformation within the continent tech ecosystem and the broader business landscape.
The founder of Beyond Limits Africa has over 25 years’ experience primarily in technology, oil and gas, and new media industries across Europe, Middle East and Africa. Juliet Ehimuan has also played an instrumental role enduring her time as Director, under her strategic initiatives the Google team in Africa successfully trained over 6 million Africans in digital skills, providing web and mobile development training to 100,000 developers, and established a Google for Startups accelerator specifically for African tech entrepreneurs.
She also spearheaded the execution of important access projects, including the expansion of the Google Station program in Nigeria and the deployment of Google’s Equiano fibre cable, which spans from Portugal to South Africa, connecting Africa with Europe. These initiatives have played a significant role in enhancing internet accessibility and affordability for millions of people in Nigeria and beyond.
Her leadership quality played a key role which made enormous contributions in committees like the National Economic Summit Group (NESG) and the Presidential Committee are responsible for creating the national broadband plan in 2019 which had been influential in shaping the ICT strategy of the region. Juliet also serves as a Director on the Boards of Nestle Nigeria PLC FATE Foundation.
The business leader is an Executive Leadership Coach and a member of the Forbes Coaches Council. She has received numerous awards for outstanding contribution to the digital landscape in Africa. She is a widely sought coach and keynote speaker.
She is a recipient of the London Business School Global Women’s Scholarship, and at Cambridge University was awarded Selwyn College Scholar and Malaysian commonwealth Scholar. The tech guru is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society. Juliet who has become a popular face at several fora is also an alumna of Computer Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
