DDB Lagos tops 2018 LAIF with Grand Prix, 6 Gold
DDB Lagos reinforced its status as one of Nigeria’s most creative
agency as it emerge winner at the 2018 Lagos Advertising and Ideas
Festival( LAIF), with an impressive medal haul of 20 awards. But it
was the Grand Prix and six gold medals that set the 30 year old agency apart from its competitors.
At the glamorous award night which was held at Landmark Event Centre, Lagos on 9 December, 2018, DDB Lagos also took four silver and nine bronze medals to steal the top spot on the medals table. However, it was Insight Publicis, DDB eternal rival that got the largest number of
award collection- 24- but with one less gold medal than DDB. Insight
also missed out on a Grand Prix and had to settle for second place.
Impressively, X3M Ideas as continued to showed that it has earned a place in the elite club of Nigerian top agencies. In the last three years the six year old agency has made the top five of the LAIF medals table and this year it again kept its place among the big boys with five gold, seven silver and 8 bronze medal.
Meanwhile Udeme Ufot’s SO&U capped up an impressive year with a top four finish. The first in recent times. The agency got four gold, 11
silver and eight bronze medals.
Culture, followed powerfully with three gold and two bronze medals
while Noah’s Ark who won the Grand Prix last year came 6th with one gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals.
Other agencies that made the top ten on the medals table include: Up
In The Sky, Etu Odi, BBDO and TBWA.
Perhaps, the most interesting development to note this year is that from the 7th position down to the 18th on the list showed new
generation agencies coming up strongly. The only exception in this
band is LTC in 15th position with one silver and one bronze medal.
The category of young but coming up powerfully, is led by “Up In The
Sky” in the 7th position with one gold, five silver and four bronze
medals; Etu Odi is placed 8th on the list with one gold, two silver
and two bronze medals; while BBDO, another Casers group agency, won one gold, one silver and three bronze medals to make the “Golden Agency league”
