NIMN Marketing Conference/AGM holds April in Benin City

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Marketing Conference of the Nigerian Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) have been slated to hold on 16th of April, 2020 in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.

The AGM /Conference definitely is the flagship event of the foremost marketing institute and, this year’s edition would be particularly very important considering that it would be an elective AGM whereby four Council members would be elected alongside the vacant positions of 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents of the institute.

Disclosing this information was President and Chairman of Council of the Institute, Tony Agenmonmen while addressing a forum of marketers and institute members who converged for Fellows Dinner and Awards Night event organised by the institute in Lagos, recently.

The Institute boss who gave detailed highlights as to plans and activities to the coming event urged all financial members of the institute to show more than just passing interest in the elections, pointing out that the future of the institute depended largely on quality of leadership.

He added that the institute had since adopted the electronic voting method which allows even members in diaspora to be involved in the choice of leadership; hence he said members must come forward to elect and also be elected.

Highlighting on the institute’s achievements under his leadership, he explained that over the years the present Council had worked so hard and had successfully re-engineered the NIMN brand equity, adding that the institute had a strong role to play in championing the application of marketing tenets and principles to governance.

“Like the mythical phoenix, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria is steadily on the rise. These are the early days, but I can report that today, you have an institute to be proud of. Are we there yet? No. But surely and certainly, we have decided to move, and no one can stop us now,” he declared.

On the institute’s efforts at enforcing the 2003 provisions of the Marketing Act, he observed that the institute, over the years had preached the need for voluntary compliance with the requirement of the law for all marketing practitioners to be accredited and be registered with the professional body.

While expressing happiness for positive responses by some practitioners in that regard, he regretted that even with overwhelming patience and persuasion, some practitioners had refused to comply with the requirements of the law.

He, however, expressed optimism that practitioners who are not currently enrolled would voluntarily comply but added that the first set of unaccredited marketers would be having their date in court very soon as the charges against them had already been pressed in court.
