Cannes Lions Festival gets amplified for 2019
The 2019 edition of the International Festival of Creativity, globally known as Cannes Lions Awards or, simply, Cannes Festival promises to go several notches higher than previous editions as the organizers of the creative awards have added several new categories and introduced news changes to feature in the edition which holds from June 17-21.
It is on record that every year, the awards, which are, obviously, the benchmark for creative communications across the world, get updated and amended to best reflect and honour the most creative and effective works in every given year and 2019 is no different.
As the organizers have indicated the changes and new categories mean new opportunities to intending awardees to showcase their works alongside the greatest creativity in the world. In their words, “We’ve made a number of changes this year to ensure the world’s best ideas are honoured at Cannes Lions 2019”.
Among other things, they have launched the Creative Strategy Lions to celebrate the idea behind the idea. According to them, “The Creative Strategy Lion welcomes a new breed of work with a strong strategic narrative. Work that wins will have redefined a brand, reinvented a business or influenced consumers and culture.
They have also launched the Entertainment Lions for Sport to give awardees more space to rank themselves against the greatest works in the world”. It is to award creative excellence in the sports marketing ecosystem
Furthermore, they have introduced Culture & Context categories across ten different Lions. This is in recognition of diverse and nuanced creativity. It is to give prospective awardees the chance to enter regionally-specific, specialist works – works with a local market, insight or community at their core and campaigns whose brilliance relies on an understanding of relevant cultural contexts.
There are also Categories for Voice, Native Advertising and Podcasts to reward innovative uses of channels, formats and technologies being utilized in the industry, today; as well as Business Transformation categories across three Lions; which will recognize transformational works that represent a new breed of creativity. The all-new ‘Business Transformation’ categories will set a benchmark for work that had a tangible impact on a business – innovative solutions to challenges, changes to customer experience or company culture, and much more.
Instructively, too, they have also introduced an important exception to last year’s rule – submissions for the Titanium Lions are now excluded from the 6 Lion Limit. This means that intending awardees have got an extra chance to showcase more and more of their game-changing ideas, by you entering for six Lions plus Titanium Lions in 2019.
Moreover, the organizers have assured that there will be live judging across more Lions, this time around, than ever before.
