Airtel Touching Lives empowers more Nigerians with Season 5

To demonstrate that it can place equal weight on societal issues and business issues, foremost telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria has rewarded the winners of its Airtel Touching Lives Soeason 5. Airtel Touching Lives is part of the brand’s annual inspiring Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, dedicated to empowering communities and underprivileged Nigerians by creating opportunities that will drive positive impact across the various locations where it operates.

This year’s premiere was held at the prestigious Eko Hotel & suites, Victoria Island, Lagos and a good number of distinguished public figures were in attendance, including Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President, Isa Ali Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State among many others.

Speaking during the event, Segun Ogunsanya, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Airtel Nigeria, restated the telco’s consistency in its commitment to empowering more underprivileged people as well as encouraging other corporate organisations to support the poor, adding that each individual or corporate entity could touch lives meaningfully in their own ways.

“We have been consistent since the first launch of Airtel Touching Lives initiative five years ago. Even during the recession, we still did our utmost to keep hope alive for despaired individuals and families and saved many from needles death.

“We all need to do something. Whether it’s five hundred thousand or twenty million naira, it still doesn’t matter because the needs are many. Not all of us can do big things, but we can do small things; and I can tell you that those small things occupy the biggest parts of the hearts of those who are touched. At Airtel, we are touching lives,” he said.

The Airtel boss enjoined all present at the well-attended event not to turn their back on pressing societal needs and issues, emphasising that for Airtel, there was no turning back.

“Your Excellencies, Guests and everybody here tonight, don’t look away; we are not looking away, and we will not look away,” he promised.

In his remarks, VP Osinbajo applauded Airtel for being steadfast in its societal purpose to the lives of ordinary Nigerians, adding that the government could not do it alone. He therefore urged other corporate bodies and individuals to be part of the little drops that would make the mighty ocean.

Also speaking at the event, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Airtel for touching the lives of the needy and underprivileged members of various communities in Nigeria, pledging Lagos State’s support for the telco in its relentless quest to drive business through the greater purpose of serving humanity.

The recent premiere was the season 5 of Airtel Touching Lives and has further strengthened the brand’s commitment to promoting the spirit of giving, self-sacrifice and love among Nigerians.
