In celebration of the yuletide season, Airtel Nigeria, the leading telecoms services provider, is set to delight less privileged Nigerians with five days of love aimed at feeding 6 thousand people in 6 regions from today, 13th –  17th of December, 2023.

This annual initiative is part of Airtel Nigeria’s corporate social responsibility with support from its Employee Voluntary Scheme (EVS) to put smiles on people’s faces during this festive period.

According to Airtel, the initiative started in 2015 and this year makes it the 8th edition of feeding the less privileged in Nigeria.

Speaking during a press parley at its office in Banana Island, Lagos, Carl Crize, CEO Airtel Nigeria, represented by Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications and CSR, said the event markes the beginning of the company’s yearly period extending the goodness of the season to people across various communities nationwide.

“We call this 5 Days of Love. What this means essentially is that for 5 days Airtel Nigeria will move to some of the communities where we operate and share the celebrations that this end of the year symbolizes with as many as possible.

“This year 2023 we will extend the celebration to 6 Nigerian communities across 5 days. ‘5 Days of Love’ is more than just sharing foods and drinks, it is about kindness. Please, join us as we move from Lagos to Rivers, Kano, Imo, Kwara and to Abuja to spread the love this season,” he said.

Airtel 5 Days of Love kicked off today, 13th December in Lagos, followed by Rivers and Kano on 14th December, Imo on 15th of December and the activities will conclude in the coming week in Kwara and Abuja on 18th and 19th of December, respectively.

He added that, “As a company it is in our DNA to feel the pulse of the people. The 5 Days of Love is beyond activities where we distribute meals, it’s an avenue for us to celebrate the festive season with people around us in an electrifying moment of fun, good entertainment and love. We believe that doing things can make a difference, this is why at Airtel, we have committed ourselves to the heart of sharing and celebrating this end of year as good neighbors.

“As you may already know, Airtel is deeply passionate about making a difference in the life of people while our business is designed to solve human problems and make life easier and better. Our corporate social responsibility activities are getting even closer to everyday human issues. Example is the Airtel Unicef partnership, which is set to cover over 1,500 schools before the end of next year. Presently we have 850 and 250 to go. This is an initiative that we launched in December, 2022.”

He hinted that the Airtel Touching Lives, the flagship CSR project designed for the underprivileged and vulnerable is entering its 8 season.

“Airtel 5 Days of Love is powered by the energy and enthusiasm of employees of the company, as an extension of Airtel philanthropy and CSR. Our Employee Volunteer Scheme (EVS) brings donation and personal resources into certain courses that the staffs are passionate about. 5 Days of Love is one of the courses in which staffs donate time to help bring to live,” he explained.
