AAAN to hold industry round table on recession

The Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN) is set to host an Industry Round Table in March; a forum where stakeholders will discuss ways that the creativity industry can survive in the era of recession.

The forum is expected to address some of the challenges facing the Advertising industry in Nigeria, and proffer sustainable solutions that can engender profitability for majority of the agencies.

Assistant Publicity Secretary, AAAN and Chief Executive Officer, (CEO), Cosse Limited, Mr. Onuora Molowu, disclosed that practitioners will learn from professionals in other sectors of the economy on how they can weather the storm despite the recession.

He said: “We are going to have an Industry Round Table, that should be in March, where senior practitioners will learn from professionals in other sectors of the economy to listen to them about, how they have also try to find solutions to the problem in the country right now, the problem that we are going through is not peculiar to advertising alone.

“Do you know how much Guinness half year result was? Guinness made a loss of N6billion but they are still in Nigeria, do you think that they are going to run away? It is lazy people that run, if you are a tough man, you will stay and put your thinking caps on. I am sure that we will get out of this economic recession.” he explained.

The Cosse boss however advised agencies to have the mindset of a winner, noting that there are agencies that are still making waves despite the current economy recession because they are deploying their strategies differently.
“If they have the mindset of a winner, I can tell you that there are people who will make more money in this recession than when there was no recession.” Molowu noted.
