World Bank /IMF Conference commences in Washington, D. C.
The 2019 annual meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have commenced in Washington, DC, United States of America.
The event which was slated to hold between Monday, 14th to Sunday 19th October is expected to focus on the Bank and Fund buildings.
The theme of this year’s annual meetings is “Building Strong, Inclusive Economies and Achieving Successful Country Outcomes”.
Sessions will focus on actions in tackling critical developmental issues such as economic growth, fragility, women’s economic empowerment, debt, jobs, human capital, resilience and adaptation and will highlight country programs and outcomes.
As part of activities of the conference, the event will feature plenary sessions and address from key personalities, including Conference Chair, Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Minister of Economy, Fiji, and an annual address by David Malpass, President World Bank Group and Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director, International Monetary Fund.
The World Bank Group consists of the following: International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), International Finance Corporation (IFC), International Development Association (IDA), International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).
