National Advertising Conference kicks off today with Fireside chat

The much-anticipated National Advertising Conference, a brainchild of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), which aims to assemble all stakeholders in the advertising industry for intellectual discourse aimed at repositioning the advertising industry for growth, kicks off today, featuring a Fireside Chat with an Icon, Professor Chris Ogbechie.
The Fireside chat is expected to be held at the Sandralia Hotel, Abuja, at 6:00pm as other engaging and in-depth conversations have been scheduled for the next three days that the event is expected to last.
Some of the iconic and highly cerebral professionals expected at this epochal event which has the theme: “’Marketing Communications Industry in Nigeria: Trends, Challenges and Prospects’, are Yosola Atere, Marketing Director, West Africa, Mastercard, Emmanuel Agu, Group Marketing Director, Jotna, Rotimi Pedro, CEO Optima Media Group, Kola Oyeyemi, CEO Axiom Intel, Adia Sowho, CMO MTN, Emeka Okeke, Group CEO Media Fuse Dentsu Nigeria, Ronan Redmond Director & CRO TVC, Biodun Adefila, COO, SO&U amongst several others.
The event will have in attendance top government functionaries such as Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Honourable Minster of Information and Culture, Danladi Sankara, Chairman Senate Committee on Information, Olusegun Odebunmi, Chairman House Committee on Information as well as Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, Director General of ARCON.
As Marketing Communications professionals and scholars from the various sectors and specializations of the marketing communications industry converge to share ideas, knowledge and perspectives on the new trends and challenges that shape the profession and business of marketing communications across the world, the event will also bring to the fore the state of the Nigerian and global economy; size and prospects of the Nigeria marketing communications industry; advertising industry regulation and the new ARCON Law; understanding the new consumer-from Gen Z to Alpha; diversity and inclusion as well as closing the gender gap in the marketing communications industry.
The conference will be rounded off with a destination tour of Abuja and a grand gala night where companies and brands that have distinguished themselves in the area of compliance, with the Advertising Standards Panel (ASP) will be recognized and given awards of compliance.
Recall that the National Advertising Conference debut in 2019 and was well attended by industry stalwarts but was stalled due to the global coronavirus pandemic in 2020. This is the first National conference since the pandemic experience.
