Wema Bank Entices Students with Purple Account

In a bid to encourage savings among students and attract more customers, Wema Bank Plc is promoting financial inclusion with its Purple Savings Account which targets the youth especially new students at higher institutions across the country.

The bank activated the tactical campaign by participating in the orientation programmes for new students of Lagos state University (LASU), Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, and Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

Speaking on the campaign, Wema Bank Regional Manager, Femi Olowoyeye said the move is to improve students’ digital banking experience. He noted that that the bank is promoting what will become the future of banking. He also stated that the target is to achieve 1,500 new accounts.

According to the bank, students can open Wema Bank Purple account with N1000 with a student identity card. The accountcan the activated on mobile banking platforms such as phones, text messages, SMS banking, USSD codes.

To further entice students, the bank said new student customers can win instant prizes such as 32 inches LCD TV and smart phones.
