TVC boss, Ronan Redmond makes case for traditional media on brand building

The Commercial Director and Chief Revenue Officer of TVC Communications, Ronan Redmond, an international media expert has made a very strong case for the traditional media as a veritable platform for brand promotion stating that the traditional media could at all times give the kind of oxygen to advertising campaigns which the new media might not be able to give.

He made this disclosure while featuring on a live interview programme on Instagram by MARKETING EDGE, Monday, explaining that in spite of the challenges thrown at the traditional media by the new media, which, according to him, had been accentuated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the traditional media still had a lot to offer brand owners and their advertising agencies when it comes to oxygenating their advertising campaigns.

Buttressing his points with his own medium (broadcast), Redmond explained that “TVC communications alone has an audience of over 10 million that watch or listen to its channels every day, adding that there are more than 30 of such organisations in Lagos alone”.

He added that Nigeria’s youth population size, in particular, offers a huge opportunity for brand owners and advertising agencies.

Comparing the Nigerian media market to other markets, especially in Europe, Redmond stated that the traditional media were still very strong in the country, compared to European markets where the digital had taken almost everything away from the traditional media.

The Commercial Director, however, cautioned that both the new and traditional media would need to work together especially in Nigeria and Africa.
