Supreme Distilleries Emerges the Best Performance Award Winner in Q4
After a balanced scorecard appraisal based on global best practices, Supreme Distilleries Limited, a subsidiary of Lexcel Group has been announced the winner of the group’ Chairman’s Outstanding Best Performance Award for year 2014, for the second year running. This was announcement was made during the event that marked the grand finale of the Group’ Chairman’s Annual Fourth Quarter Competition held at Lagos Sheraton Hotel recently.
Out of the eight companies in the group, six companies were covered in the appraisal and they are: Allied Atlantic Distilleries Limited which came up with 4.2points, Grand Oak International Brands Limited with 4.7points, Nigeria Distilleries Limited with 5.8points coming fourth on the log. Lexcel Products and Packaging Limited became the second runner-up with 6.2points, while Grand Oak Limited docked at the second position with 8.0points. Supreme Distilleries Limited came out the winner with 8.3points.
Speaking at the event, Lexel Group Chairman, Mr. Ola Rosiji, apparently overjoyed at the company’s achievements in 2014 saying, “The year 2013 was not the best of years, but we have been able to overcome and recover quickly. Our 2014 result reached our 2011 peak in volume terms”.

The Group Managing Director, Mr. Anil Ahluwalia, could not agree less when he said, “Others may be complaining in 2015, the environment may throw all manner of challenges at you, but I am glad that the management team is up to the task. Our theme, going forward in 2015 shall be ‘Collaboration and Closure’ in that we will work together as a team and in that our objective and strategies shall be ‘when you start it, you also finish it’, especially in innovative initiatives”, he concluded.
Supreme Distilleries managing director, Mr. Bola Soyinka also explained that the key success factors are a combination of teamwork, diligence and innovation. “Everything were measured, efficiency, productivity, profitability, and we met the entire set target”.
Soyinka acknowledged the challenges ahead, “We know that 2015 may be a tough year, but when the going gets tough, the tough gets going. There is nothing that is not surmountable. We are going to be managing on a month to month basis; we will look at any challenge, appraise them and deal with them. There is nothing to be afraid of. We urge our customers to continue to trust us as we will not rest on our oars and we will not take them for granted”.
Lexcel Group is a conglomerate, employing over three thousand people and operates in manufacturing, marketing and management services sector of the Nigerian economy. Its manufacturing operations covers all types of wines and spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, alcohol, agro allied products, plastic components and clean energy. Nigeria Distilleries Limited (NDL) is the first company set up by Lexcel Group in 1973.
