SimbaPay wins DEMO Africa 2015 event

SimbaPay, a leading digital money transfer provider, has won the DEMO Africa event which took place on Friday, 25 September 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

SimbaPay, alongside 29 other startups from across Africa pitched in front of a jury comprising entrepreneurs, VCs and academia for a chance to claim top spot.

SimbaPay wooed the judges with a new service which enables Africans living abroad to seamlessly open bank accounts in Africa using its app.

With the win, SimbaPay automatically qualifies for the global DEMO event that will be held in Silicon Valley, USA.

Speaking about the win, CEO of SimbaPay, Nyasinga Onyancha said, “We are totally excited and dedicate this win to our customers. It’s because of their continued feedback and support that we were able to develop our new in-app bank account opening service.”

Also heading to DEMO Global is Zuvaa, an online community and marketplace for African-inspired fashion; InsureAfrika.com, a Kenyan startup that provides free online insurance quotes from insurance companies in Nigeria; CarPartsNigeria.com, an online car and truck parts and accessories stores in Africa and BambaPOS, a low cost point of sale inventory management solution in Kenya who placed second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.

SimbaPay is bringing speed, convenience and constant innovation to the international remittance space, enabling users to send money to loved ones or even vendors in Africa, from wherever they are at any time they desire through its mobile app, which is available across all mobile platforms.

In June 2015, SimbaPay became the first platform in the world to allow Kenyans living abroad to make M-Pesa Pay Bill payments.

SimbaPay, which hopes to be the number one digital money transfer provider for Africans in diaspora, is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
