Shobanjo set to bag Honorary Doctorate Degree at OAU

The story and history of advertising and marketing communications cannot be told in Nigeria without the mentioning of one man, Biodun Shobanjo, and his outstanding accomplishments, especially in Nigeria’s marketing communications industry have continued to earn him several awards locally and internationally.

This time, the doyen of advertising and Chairman of Troyka Group is going to be decorated with an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) at one of Nigeria’s prestigious universities, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State. Close sources hinted that the conferement will take place at the 44th Convocation ceremony slated for December 14, 2019.

The same sources hinted that the conferment of the honorary degree was in recognition of Shobanjo’s unique contributions to the media and communications industry, and would be bestowed by Professor Eyitope Ogunbadede, VC, OAU.

Recall that in 2018, Shobanjo was conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award by DAAR Communications for his remarkable contributions to the development of the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) industry in Africa.

In the same year, Shobanjo was recognised for his exceptional business accomplishments in repositioning Nigeria’s Integrated Marketing Communications industry, as well as his exemplary leadership skills, sound management and human resources development by the Silverbird Group with the Extraordinary Business Achievement Award.

Suffice it to say that an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Letters from one of the foremost Nigerian universities (OAU) will not only add another feather but consolidate the numerous achievements of the dean of advertising.
