Race for OAAN top Jobs up as Mbanefo Enters Ring

The jostle for power and positions at Outdoor Advertising Association of Nigeria, OAAN enters a colourful dimension today with the latest information reaching MARKETINGEDGE that Sir Dozie Mbanefo’s profile now freely circulates among key members of the association as he presents himself for the position of Vice President.

Engineer Sir Dozie Mbanefo is the CEO and founder of New Crystal Communication Limited. The highly successful professional is a full member of the Advertising Practitioner Council of Nigeria and a Paul Harris fellow of Rotary International, member Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and a Fellow of the Institute of Marketing.

Dozie has received several awards in Nigeria and overseas for papers delivered in advertising, entrepreneurship and engineering. He was an ex-officio member and the current Publicity Secretary of OAAN.

Sir Mbanefo has gathered a lot of experience working on multinational and government accounts across several brands, ensuring that the accounts in his control have the best. He has also been involved in development of data and tools for accessing efficiencies of Out-of-Home Advertising.

Beyond rhetoric, New Crystal Communications Limited’s unique and superb services speak volumes for his professionalism and this is evident in the array of blue chip companies, federal, state government and other agencies it has worked for.

Its clientele includes: United Bank of Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank, Coca-Cola, Nigerian Brewery Limited (NBL), Starcomm Media, LG Electronics, A-Z Petroleum, Media Perspective and others.

It will be recalled that the presidency of Azubuike Chijide and his current exco members succeeded Mr. Kole Ademulegun and his team four years ago at the association’s yearly meet held in Festac amidst a feverish and keenly contested election full of intrigues and horse-trading by practitioners.

Impeccable industry sources have revealed authoritatively to MARKETING EDGE that the forth-coming OAAN election and baton change will not in the least lack in drama, intrigues and maneuvers as there already exists two major candidates slugging it out with themselves on the presidential front. The two strong candidates are, Mr. Ladi Sole, Managing Director of Unique Sites Ltd and vice-president 1 of the current exco. However, he has a major contender and opponent in Prince Tunde Adedoyin, Managing Director of Media Views and member of the current exco.

Other positions available for contest with less intrigues and horse-trading are the vice-Presidents 1 and 2, General Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations, Financial Secretary and Ex-Officio. The incumbent General Secretary of OAAN, Mr. Emmanuel Ajufo, also Managing Director of Opportunity to See and Engr, Sir Dozie Mbanefo of Grapro are slugging it out while for now, Managing Director of KOK Visibility Edge, Mr. Sola Akinsiku has so far indicated interest in the association’s General Secretary’s position. No other contestant has emerged for that position yet, but Akinsiku has embarked on aggressive campaign for the top job.

As it stands, the forth-coming contest for the OAAN top jobs at its next annual general meet slated for month end will be keen and queer. As usual, there will be emergence of different factions favouring or opposing each other in the battle for the soul of the association. It promises to be an exciting scenario in shaping the industry.
