PHD West Africa appoints Dozie Okafor CEO

…Marketing Edge congratulates him

PHD West Africa, one of Nigeria’s leading media agencies has appointed Dozie Okafor, former Media Manager at Coca-Cola Nigeria as its new CEO. Okafor’s appointment which took effect last month is coming several months after PhD’s former CEO Bayo Adisa resigned.

Okafor is expected to lead PhD’s new phase of growth in Nigeria and across the West Africa region and reposition the agency which is an affiliate of PhD worldwide, to develop new and more aggressive strategies for clients’ brand building efforts.

Okafor, a University of Nigeria and Lagos Business School graduate, is one of an emerging group of young executives in Nigeria’s media advertising space, who now represent a generational shift in the industry, and are poised to make the media segment more vibrant and globally competitive. In the last few months, a number of young talents have equally been appointed to top positions in some of the leading media agencies in Nigeria.

In the aftermath of the appointment, MARKETING EDGE, a leading marketing and advertising publication in Nigeria has issued a statement to congratulate the newly appointed CEO. Okafor’s appointment marks his second time at PhD, where he left in February to pick up the plum job as Media Manager at Coca-Cola Nigeria. Before he joined Coca Cola, he was the Head of Media Strategy and Planning at Phd where he handled key accounts like Twinings Nigeria, LaCasera Co. Ltd, Nutrifoods, SC Johnson, Bang & Olufsen and Martini Rose, L’Oreal, Ariston Thermo, NCC, Kalbe international, Distell SA, Huawei, Apple, Moet Hennessy and PZ Cussons.

As Head of Media Strategy and Planning at PHd, he was responsible for communication planning, business planning and strategy, knowledge management – recruiting, mentoring and coaching, marketing effectiveness, efficiency measurements and he was lead, client service personnel for all accounts.

Some of his achievements at the agency include winning five new clients for PHD who are said to currently contribute over 60% of agency billings. PHD West Africa, which is an affiliate of PhD worldwide, is one of Omnicom’s agencies in Nigeria.
