NIPR holds AGM, election

The Annual General Meeting and election of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) holds between April 13th and 15th, 2016 at Premier Hotel, Mokola Hill, Ibadan, Oyo State.

The theme of this year’s AGM / election is ‘Networking for National Economy: The Synergy Of Agriculture and Communication’.

The event which costs N20,000 for members and N25,000 for non-members is open to Directors of Public Relations / Public Affairs, Heads of Corporate Communication / Corporate Affairs, Senior Government Officials, Media Executives, Scholars and Educators of Public Relations and Mass Communication, Politicians and Political Assistants.

According to the National President of the institute, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, Ibadan was carefully chosen for its strategic location and importance to the practice of the profession in Nigeria.

Speaking on the forthcoming elections, Oladele urged members of the newly inaugurated Local Organising Committee (LOC) to put in their best in order to ensure the success of the events.

Expected at the conference are the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed and the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Audu Ogbeh.

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations was formerly known as the Public Relations Association of Nigeria until it was renamed in 1972. However, the body was established in 1963 under the law but became chartered under Decree 16 of 1990.

The body has the power to register members, regulate the practice and development of PR profession and monitor professional conducts.

The institute conducts professional certificate and diploma examinations every year to produce professionals in PR. They also offer in-house trainings and media management.
