NIPR commends Lagos Govt over appointment of PR experts

The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the initiative of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led Lagos State Government for its pragmatic step in appointing professional public relations experts to serve in the state’s cabinet.

Making the commendation was the Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Institute, Olusegun McMedal while speaking in an exclusive interview with MARKETING EDGE in Lagos.

According to the Institute’s boss, the Governor Sanwo-Olu led government has demonstrated seriousness in every facet of the governance process since it came to power, adding that inclusion of three prominent members of the institute to serve in the cabinet of Lagos State goes a long way to show that the government was mindful of the impact of professionalism in all its dealings.

“Governor Sanwo-Olu’s government is out for serious works in Lagos State. This government means business from the very first day Sanwo- Olu started to run. He is always doing something, he is always saying something. People are saying it everywhere that this guy has come to work and he is engaging with all the stakeholders.

“You see, government is about managing expectations. People expect certain things from the government and so far he is living up to expectation and he is trying to put the right team in place,” he said.

He continued: “So far, I think the government is doing very well. The Lagos State government currently has about three of our members in its media team and that for us is a good thing because these people are thoroughbred professionals.”

He added: “Once the government sees that these guys are solution providers and are able to engage with the people, other state governments will begin to borrow a leaf from the Lagos State government.

“For instance, you will notice that when taxation in Lagos State became successful other state governments came to copy the taxation model of Lagos state so that’s the same way it’s going to happen in the public relations sector.”
