NIMN announces new location for 2021 Annual Marketing Confab and AGM

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has announced that its 2021 Annual Marketing Conference/Annual General Meeting themed ‘SMEs in the Post Covid World’ will now take place in Lagos at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Isaac John Street, Ikeja.

Earlier slated to hold in Benin City, the decision on the new location was made after a council meeting held recently to review all circumstances of the successful outcome of the conference and AGM.

In a statement to its numerous members across the country, NIMN president, Tony Agenmonmen said: “This conclusion was largely informed by the realization that we might not have enough attendance to justify the hosting of the programme in Benin City. The dates remain 27 May 2021 for the Annual Marketing Conference and 28 May 2021 for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). In full observance of COVID-19 protocols, only a maximum of 100 participants will be allowed at each of the programmes.”

According to the professional body, admittance will be on a first come first served basis. Members have been advised to contact the Institute’s Registrar, Mr. Sidney Ogbodo for early reservation.  NIMN also apologized for all inconveniences the changes may have caused.

Nominations for elections into the positions in the Governing Council of the NIMN have also been opened. The contestable positions include the Presidential position, and the council positions. Only members of the Institute in the grades of Associate, Full Members, and Fellows who are financially up to date, and have paid their membership subscriptions up to 2020, and therefore have their names in the membership register as of 31 March 2021 will be eligible to vote and attend the AGM.

To contest for the office of the NIMN President, interested candidates must have been a member of Council at any time provided he/she has not been removed from Council for any reason; candidates must have been a Fellow of the Institute for at least five years; and must be a financial member i.e., has paid annual membership subscription for years 2019 and 2020 as and when due and has his/her name in the membership register as of 31 March 2021.

2020’s election, which held digitally in July, saw the emergence of Mr. Idy Enang as the 1st Vice-President of the Institute. Top on contenders’ list for the 1st Vice-President position was Mr. Idy Enang, former CEO of Samsung West Africa, Former Commercial Director of Cadbury, and many other blue chip companies.

Whilst the Annual Marketing Conference is open to members and non-members, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) is strictly for financial members of the Institute who have their names on the membership register as of 31 December 2021.
