Nigeria’s ChowCentral selected for Y Combinator’s 2023 batch

ChowCentral, a Nigerian restaurant network startup, has secured a coveted spot in Y Combinator’s prestigious summer 2023 batch, making it one of the three African startups to be selected for the renowned accelerator programme. This achievement highlights the growing recognition and potential of the Nigerian tech ecosystem on the global stage.
Y Combinator, based in Silicon Valley, is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading startup accelerators. Each year, it selects a group of startups from around the world to participate in its intensive program, providing them with mentorship, resources, and access to a vast network of investors and industry experts.
Founded by Tosin Onafuye, Christopher Obasi and Adeyemi Onafuye, the Nigerian-based startup focuses on revolutionizing the food delivery industry in the country. The company offers a user-friendly platform that connects consumers with a wide range of local restaurants, providing them with a convenient and efficient way to order food.
According to the trio, “ChowCentral started as a fun experiment shortly after we graduated from university. We created a virtual restaurant page on Twitter to sell affordable meals and also help underutilized restaurants get sales during Covid lockdown.”
As ChowCentral embarks on its journey with Y Combinator, the startup is poised for accelerated growth and increased visibility withing the global tech community. The experience and resources gained from the program will undoubtedly contribute to the company’s success and solidify its position as a key player in the Nigerian food delivery industry.
