Against the backdrop of the recent demutualization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, which saw it transition to a non-operating holding company, Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), with three subsidiaries, the company is collaborating with MARKETING EDGE, a leading brand-centric, marketing and advertising company to drive equity growth.

Representatives of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), one of the subsidiaries, paid a courtesy visit to the MARKETING EDGE office in Lagos where they met with the Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Mr. John Ajayi flanked by other principal officers of the company.

Commenting, Clifford Akpolo, Head Marketing and Corporate Communications, Nigerian Exchange Limited, while stating that the company since the demutualization has become a profit-oriented organization, delivering dividends to its shareholders, noted that NGX is focused on increasing its brand equity to harness business opportunities inherent in the capital market.

He said: “NGX Group of companies is now well positioned to drive the sustainable development of the Nigerian economy. Demutualization has opened us to new opportunities. Now, we are for profits and we need to provide value to our shareholders, and we think the demutualization is actually helping us to achieve this”.

“In the NGX era, we definitely need partnerships to move the brand forward and achieve our strategic objectives. We are seeking innovative ways to market our brand and communicate its essence and promise to our stakeholders. We thought to ourselves that coming to MARKETING EDGE is one of such because our new focus is marketing really. So we need to move from just communicating to marketing the brand and look for ways to endear the NGX brand to our stakeholders. Looking at what MARKETING EDGE is doing, we see that it aligns with our thinking process,” he added.

“So, we are looking at how both companies can work together for a mutually beneficial purpose. I think the collaboration is one that will definitely open both organizations to new opportunities. For us here, we are looking at increasing our footprint and I think MARKETING EDGE is one of the partners that will assist us in achieving that “he concluded.

On his part, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer, MARKETING EDGE Group, Mr. John Ajayi, who expressed willingness to collaborate with the company to facilitate the attainment of its marketing objectives stressed that as an iconic and a highly respected brand in the Integrated Marketing Communications Industry, the company is committed to promoting the brand idea by expanding the frontiers of marketing communication as well as brand management.
He said: “We want to be part of that success. We want to work with you to promote your brand idea and make sure that more investors particularly those in our sector get to know about what you do and also how to relate to you. You can count on us for support and we will continue to deploy our media platforms to project and promote your business because ours is to continue to promote the brand idea by expanding the marketing and advertising knowledge across different sectors and industries”.

Today, NGX Group led by Mr. Oscar N. Onyema, stands as the non-operating holding company with three (3) subsidiaries – the operating Exchange, Nigerian Exchange Limited led by Mr. Temi Popoola, as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO); the independent regulatory company, NGX Regulation Limited led by Ms. Tinuade Awe as the CEO; and the real estate company, NGX Real Estate with Mr. Gabriel Igbeka serving as Acting CEO.
