NB Plc wins 2016 Institute of Directors Corporate Governance Award

Nigerian Breweries Plc has emerged winner of the 2016 Institute of Directors Corporate Governance Award at the annual Directors Dinner of the institute of Directors of Nigeria which was held recently in Lagos.

The Institute of Directors Corporate Governance Award shows the importance of best practice amongst corporate entities and is open to outstanding corporate companies that are quoted on The Nigerian Stock Exchange.

To be recognized in the category, companies have to demonstrate a high level of effectiveness across the four pillars of corporate governance which are: Accountability, Transparency, Fairness and Responsibility.

According to the Institute’s Governing Council Committee the awards was organized in collaboration with The Nigeria Stock Exchange which received three nominations of companies quoted on the Exchange that were Corporate Governance compliant. Out of those companies, Nigerian Brewries emerged as the Institute winner of the Corporate Governance Award for 2016 as endorsed by the Governing Council.

Chairman, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Chief Kola Jamodu who received the award said that the company was delighted to receive the award in recognition of its efforts in ensuring that it integrated corporate governance principle into the organizational culture.

Jamodu said: “More importantly, we are encouraged to have been voted the winner of the Institute of Directors Corporate Governance Award for 2016. This is a worthy recognition and an incentive to encourage us to do more”
