Preparation is in top gear as members of the Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) count down to their Annual General Meeting and Brand Experience Summit billed to hold on the 14th and 15th July 2021, at Providence Hotel, Oba Akinjobi GRA, Ikeja.

The two-day Brand Experience Summit will feature two plenaries and 40 sessions across five different parallel streams each day covering Brands/Campaigns/Ideas, Marketing Technology/Data, Agency/Insights/Measurement, Shopper/Trade Marketing and Academy.

Shedding more light on the event, President of the association, Mr. Tade Adekunle, stated that the significance of the AGM is for the current executive to give report of their stewardship for the last two years.

Noting further, he said: “Our external auditor will also present a financial report for review and approval, and three new agencies will be inducted as members of EXMAN. It will also witness the election of new officers to take charge of the association.”

The president mentioned that the positions to be contested for are that of the president, Vice President, Secretary- General, Financial Secretary and Publicity. He added that, apart from the election, the Brand Experience Summit will hold the same day before the AGM.

According to him, the Summit, which is a two-day programme, is first of its kind in Nigeria and it will be featuring about 44 speakers from across the globe. He stated it will run four plenary sessions with forty breakfast sessions running simultaneously for the two days, while promising that it will become a biennial event onward.

The EXMAN boss also revealed that the association will be having its award ceremony on the 15th July, which he proudly stated that, for the first time in EXMAN’s award night’s journey, witnessed the highest award entries since its inception.  He said they will be giving special award recognition to both clients and members of the association.

Confirming the administration’s contributions in the last two years, Mr. Ropo Alabi, Chief Executive Officer of Linkpoint Resources Int’l Ltd, said since Mr. Adekunle’s assumption as the President of the association, the body has seen an influx of advertisers becoming members.

“This administration has made many companies to know that EXMAN exists, and are now aware that, there are rules and regulations guiding brand activation. As a result of this, many companies have discontinued giving agencies that are not recognised by EXMAN jobs to do.  This will help to eradicate the problem of having quacks as practitioners, thereby boosting its equity and positioning.”

He noted that there is an on-going plan by EXMAN, in partnership with APCON to ensure that client-agency payment is done according to global standard to have a uniformed approach, adding that the association has been able to abide by its code of conduct in all its practices.

Tolu Medebem, the Chief Executive Officer of Event Plus, stated that the administration had elements of things they wanted to achieve, but were restricted by the pandemic. She also commended the leadership for incorporating EXMAN into APCON, and for introducing members to serve in critical committees in APCON.

She applauded them for going the extra mile in speaking to heads of organisations in settling the issue of debt owed by companies to agencies.

She stated: “I know they worked on the debt issue, they went all out to achieve that, but don’t forget that companies also have their own processes, truth be told, I think it is also why being an APCON member was also important, as that will give legal backing to anything that EXMAN says, being officially recognised by law.”

Among the powerful lineup of speakers also expected at the summit are Adenike Adebola, Marketing and Innovations Director, Guinness Nigeria; Amaechi Okobi, Group Head, Corporate Communications – Access Bank; Emmanuel Agu, Group Marketing Director, JOTNA Nigeria Limited, Dr Rotimi Olaniyan Founder, Experiential NG; Tolulope Medebem, CEO Aster Integrated Marketing Ltd.; Mr. Kehinde Salami, MD, Ideas House and Himanshu Verma CEO Ipsos Nigeria and West Africa.
