MARKETING EDGE has not only internalised the lessons of the above quote, it has for eight years running, consistently demonstrated this by organising the Marketing Stakeholders Summit and Brands & Advertising Excellence Awards. These are two annual events that are aimed at expanding the frontiers of knowledge, celebrating excellence and hard work in the industry and beyond. Interestingly, the industry has reciprocated by embracing the events, participating in them and according them the support that has seen them grown to occupy the zenith of the industry calendar.

As preparations pick momentum and gear towards the crescendo for the 2021 edition of the twin event, scheduled to hold on 26 and 27 August respectively, stakeholders, participants and awardees during the previous editions who are still basking in the euphoria of these glamorous events reminisce on their experiences, while calling for a better 2021 Awards Night.

Tunji Adeyinka, President of Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN), and Managing Director, Connect Marketing Services, who was recognised in the 2020 edition of the award, as Outstanding Experiential Marketing Personality of the Decade, noted that the awards have been well received and have also been credible all through. The newly-elected EXMAN president encouraged MARKETING EDGE to keep up with the good work.

Speaking on how the award has impacted his agency, he said: “Recognition challenges you but it also gives you the perspective that there is a lot of work to do. This year, I am looking forward to the great work that has been awarded especially in tough times like this. Any award this year is a celebration of human resilience.”

Another industry icon, Victor Gbenga Afolabi, the founder of the GDM Group, a leading innovative experiential agency in Nigeria, while giving his assessment of the annual awards said that MARKETING EDGE Brands and Advertising Excellence Awards has been very successful.

“MARKETING EDGE has been the leading industry publication over the years. And the awards and activities over the years speak a lot of excellence. It has been worth it! MARKETING EDGE awards have been successful, as they have highlighted progress and outstanding achievement in the industry. In my opinion it’s been a success and it’s kudos to the team.”

Above all, it inspires the agency and the team to continue to deliver value to all our clients and stakeholders.

He gladly and promptly stated that his expectations for this year’s edition is that he hopes it would be a lot more exciting, and give another opportunity for industry veterans and key players to come together and discuss issues around the practice of the profession of advertising – an opportunity in which hard work and excellence would be recognised and rewarded.

Lanre Ashaolu, the MD/CEO, Four Pulley Limited, a leading outdoor advertising agency in Nigeria, was recognised with Outstanding Young OOH Agency of the Year during the same year in review. In his excitement, he stated that the award is a welcome idea in the industry, because it offers a platform to recognise outstanding professionals and players who have contributed to the growth and development of the IMC industry year-on-year.
